What are Chambres d’Hotes?

Chambres d’Hotes literally means ‘guest rooms’ and is the French version of Bed & Breakfast (B&B). When you visite a Chambres d’Hotes, you will rent a room in an inhabited house. Chambres d’Hotes owners have one or more rooms available (up to five) in their home for their guests to stay overnight and they will serve breakfast in the morning (included in the room rate).

There is a diversity in types of chambres d’hotes. For instance a difference in comfort, an enormous difference in the offered facilities and there is a big difference in the rates per night. Some chambres d’hotes offer rooms where the sanitary needs to be shared with other guests. Other chambres d’hotes are luxurious and have a heated outdoor swimming pool.

Most of the times, chambres d’hotes will be rented per night. Breakfast will be served in the morning and the bed is already made up on arrival. In some cases, chambres d’hotes also have half and full board rates.

What are Gîtes?

A gite is a holiday home in France that is offered for rent. Where you usually only have one room when you stay in a chambres d’hotes, a gite is often a whole house, where you stay for a minimum period of one week.

Why are there Chambres d’Hotes with more than 5 rooms on the website?

We have chosen to include small hotels (Petit Hotel) to place along the many chambres d’hotes on the website. We believe that many Petit Hotels will give a similar experience as most of the chambres d’hotes: a cozy, authentic atmosphere and a personal approach in a beautiful environment.

Do I have to pay reservation costs if I make a reservation via this website?

No, you will not have to pay reservation costs if you book via Chambres d’Hotes Guide. This website mediates between visitors and the accommodation owners and doesn’t charge any costs to the visitor. The payment for the accommodation is directly for the owner of the Chambres d’Hotes, Gite or Petit-Hotel where you booked your holiday.

How long will it take to get an answer when I have sent a request?

If you have a reservation request sent to a accommodation owner, they are kindly requested to give you a response within two business days. The response time of two business days also applies to questions and/or comments that are sent to the Service Desk of Chambres d’Hotes Guide.

Why are you using a questionnaire when I would like to give a review?

Reviews are important for many potential bookers to make a reservation, that’s why we choose for a short questionnaire (about 3 minutes) to present to visitors who have stayed in an authentic accommodation. This way, visitors are assisted in making their choice.

I have stayed in a Chambres d’Hotes or Gite that isn’t on this site, what can I do?

If you have visited a Chambres d’Hotes, Gite or Petit Hotel that isn’t on Chambres d’Hotes Guide yet, you can send us a message via our contact form to inform us. We will ensure you that the owner of the accommodation will get informed to register their accommodation on our website.
